According to an article from The Information, Apple wants to keep the high-resolution screens but would remove certain features to make it lighter.

Only a week after Apple’s announcements about its Vision Pro at WWDC, rumors about a new mixed reality headset are already flying. Criticized, particularly for its price, the Vision Pro should see a more affordable version, according to a recent article in The Information.

Apple has apparently found ways to reduce the cost of components for the first model and is already working on this new version, which the American giant aims to ship by the end of 2025.

Launched at the start of the year in the United States, this mixed reality headset (augmented and virtual) aims to be the computer of the future. Priced at $3,500, it saw its sales forecasts drop last April.

Still high-resolution screens

But during Apple’s annual developers conference, the American brand announced that the Vision Pro would be released in France and Europe during the month of July. Confident of its strength, Apple offers it from 3,999 euros in France.

According to The Information, this new “low-cost” version of the Vision Pro is codenamed N109. Apple would aim to keep the high-resolution screens (the high quality of the device) but would remove certain features. Which would make it “at least a third lighter”, promises the American media.

As for the price, Bloomberg announced between 1,500 and 2,500 dollars each. The Information reports that Apple has struggled to reduce costs without compromising too much functionality.

From this fall, the first version of the headset – which arrives in France on July 12 – will have the new features of the visionOS 2 operating system.
