ChatGPT in Siri, when is it coming, and why?

Before the conference, expectations for Siri were high, for several reasons. Apple’s voice assistant can be useful in some cases, but can be very frustrating at times, so much so that most users have abandoned it altogether. To compensate for this, Siri is getting a huge overhaul in iOS 18, which aims to make it more comprehensive, faster, while being more discreet.

Some of the features offered in Siri, however, will not be offered in 2025, and we now know which ones, thanks to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. In his weekly power on letter published yesterday, the Apple informant with 1000 ears confirms certain exclusive information.

What won’t happen before 2025

We initially shared Apple Intelligence features (in general) that likely wouldn’t be available until an upcoming iOS 18 update. For Siri, this included awareness on screenwho offers in-depth knowledge of the functions integrated into the applicationAnd contextual reading of content. Mark Gurman confirms that These Siri features won’t be available until 2025.

As a reminder, in-depth knowledge of the functions integrated into the application offers several advantages. This allows Siri to provide assistance in any native iPhone application and even perform actions. Thanks to this, you can, for example, ask Siri to start playing a podcast that one of your contacts has shared with you.

Concerning the contextual reading of content, it makes it possible to process commands specific to a given context. In fact, thanks to this ability, you can ask Siri to find an image and use it as a contact photo, or ask it vague questions that it can still process. For example, if you ask her, what time will Mom land? He will be able to respond by searching for information in your emails and messages.

What about ChatGPT in Siri?

Compared to ChatGPT in Siri, which follows the partnership between OpenAI and Apple, it will be integrated before 2025 according to Mark Gurman. The integration of ChatGPT with Siri will allow you, among other things, to write emails, modify their tone, check the spelling of your writing, or summarize any text.

Finally, Mark Gurman says that Apple is looking to enter into partnerships with other big players in AI, such as Anthropic and Google in the USA, or Baidu and Alibaba in China. We don’t know if they will agree to provide their services for free, as was the case for OpenAI.

Check out other Siri improvements in iOS 18, which won’t be just for iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max and iPhone 16.
