Although it has been out for more than 10 years, GTA 5 continues to attract many players as it is complete and ambitious. However, it could have been even more so. According to some sources, Rockstar's game could have had several expansions which ultimately never made it into the final game.

GTA 5 could have had 5 major expansions
Today, while the one and only trailer for the game was revealed more than 10 months ago and no other information has been communicated since by Rockstar, Grand Theft Auto VI is indeed the game the most anticipated video on the planet. But before being able to discover it, some continue to play its predecessor, GTA 5. It must be said that even if it was released in 2013, more than ten years ago, the game was so complete that it allows you to still having fun with it even though you feel like you know it by heart. But did you know that GTA 5 could have offered even more content? If we are to believe certain information from data mining, source code and old interviews with developers and actors who participated in the game, Grand Theft Auto V could in fact have had no less than 5 different expansions:
- Agent Trevor (also called Clifford Episode)
- Zombies (also called Norman Episode)
- Alien Invasion
- LibertyV (also called Liberty City)
- Prologue (also called North Yankton)
As you can read in the very long Twitter thread of SynthPotato above, these 5 extensions had everything to be particularly full. For example, we are talking about several dozen additional missions per DLC, events as ridiculous as they are amusing (zombies, aliens, etc.), but also the pure and simple addition of Liberty City (the GTA IV map) to the game. Of course, none of these expansions have been properly confirmed by Rockstar, but it's a safe bet that they have been in development at one point or another. Besides, Many of the elements that would have been integrated with these DLCs were ultimately used for GTA Online events.
Can we expect expansions in GTA 6?
Even more than 10 years after the release of GTA 5, many players would surely have loved it if Rockstar ended up adding these expansions to the 2013 game. It must be said that GTA IV, its predecessor, had benefited from two expansions which had been very good welcomed by the public. However, it must also be taken into account that For games like GTA, expansions are not necessarily the most profitable elements. Even though they generally have very good critical feedback, few people buy them compared to the staggering number of people who buy the game itself… or who spend money on GTA Online.
For the moment, it seems quite difficult to imagine that GTA 6 will have expansions. Of course, it is much too early to say such a thing with certainty, Rockstar could very well decide to expand the universe of its new game with expansions like they did in GTA 4. In the meantime, we would be content well of the smallest crumb of information regarding the most anticipated game in the world…
