The floating dock outside Science North is closed to the public. The center says the aging dock will be removed and replaced with a new structure.

The floating dock has connected visitors to the Jim Gordon Parkway for more than three decades.

In a press release, the organization indicates that an engineering assessment last year revealed that the wharf had reached the end of its useful life.

To prioritize public safety, Science North has temporarily closed access to the floating dock and disconnected it from its power Sourceit is indicated, emphasizing that an alternative pedestrian route will be indicated.

The goal is to complete the installation of a new dock in spring 2025.

The closure of the dock means the cruise ship William Ramsey will not be able to dock at this location at this time.

However, Science North continues to explore potential solutions and will provide updates when availablewe emphasize.

It is imperative that the public refrain from using the decommissioned wharf due to its unstable condition, which poses a significant safety risk.

The science center says it will post on social media the date the dock will be removed, as well as information about the project.
