The bonus for incumbents worked in Val-de-Marne for the union of the left. Four outgoing deputies were re-elected, including Mathilde Panot, and the left came out on top in five other constituencies. The presidential majority will lose at least one seat. The RN made it to the second round in four constituencies.

Four left-wing MPs re-elected in the first round

LFI MPs Mathilde Panot and Clémence Guetté were re-elected in the first round in the 10th and 2nd constituencies, well ahead of their opponents with 59.27% and 55% of the vote. Socialist Isabelle Santiago was also elected in the 9th and environmentalist Sophie Taillé-Polian in the 11th.

In five other constituencies, the left finished in first place. Rachel Kéké came in first with 43.65% in the 7th constituency, almost nine points ahead of the LR mayor of L’Haÿ-les-Roses Vincent Jeanbrun (36.64%). Newcomer to the political arena, children’s rights activist Lyes Louffok, NFP candidate, also came in first place with 31.71% of the vote in the 1st constituency.

The majority in difficulty

In this 1st constituency, four candidates qualified for the second round. But the incumbent, Renaissance MP Frédéric Descrozaille, who came third (18.57) announced on Sunday evening that he was withdrawing in favor of Sylvain Berrios. The LR candidate supported by Horizons came second (27.97) behind LFI candidate Lyes Louffok. There should be a three-way race in this constituency since the RN also qualified.

Another three-way race is coming in the 5th, where the outgoing Renaissance MP Mathieu Lefèvre came out on top (38.52) ahead of the left-wing candidate Julien Léger (37.27) and the RN Isabelle Huguenin-Richard (20.40). In the 6th, the second round duel is also expected to be tight between the outgoing Renaissance MP Guillaume Gouffier Valente who came second on Sunday evening (36.77) behind the candidate of the left-wing union, May Bouhada (39.38).

RN in the second round in four constituencies

The RN is present in the second round in four constituencies (1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th). In the 4th and 5th, Jordan Bardella’s party came in third place, which should result in a three-way race. A three-way race also in the 3rd constituency, that of the rebellious deputy Louis Boyard. The candidate of the presidential majority, Loïc Signor, who came in third, decided to stay in the race.

In a post on X, this Monday, he indicates having “made the decision to stay in the second round” facing the rebel and the candidate of the RN-LR alliance, contrary to the instructions given to the candidates of the presidential majority in this configuration. He continues: “Faced with the extremes, I am supporting the candidacy of the forces that want to build a republican parliamentary majority, of appeasement and progress.”
