ChatGPT’s mobile app revenue saw its biggest spike following the launch of GPT-4o.

Recent times have been rich in artificial intelligence. Demand is increasing, and tech giants are updating. However, OpenAI still stands out. The American firm launched its latest version of its famous chatbot in May 2024: ChatGPT-4o. The system can now support text, speech and video. Responsiveness has been improved and there is a range of emotional voice options, making it a much more powerful model than what has been offered so far.

Unheard of for Open AI

According to the American media Techcrunch, this technical innovation is encouraging more and more users to upgrade to the OpenAI paid subscription. GPT-4o is not yet available to users of its ChatGPT mobile application. OpenAI has since announced that it intends to roll out GPT-4o on mobile later. However, since last week, mobile users have been enticed to upgrade to ChatGPT’s $19.99 monthly subscription to experience the recent updates.

Revenue from the mobile version of ChatGPT reportedly increased by 22% on the day GPT-4o launched. According to figures from Appfigure, we notice the continued development in the following days. $4.2 million in net revenue across the App Store and Google Play was reportedly generated between May 13-17. This would be the biggest revenue spike the app has seen so far.

Users of IOS devices were the most responsive to the launch of GPT-4o. Indeed, the App Store contributes to the majority of new revenues with a share of 81%. The American market represents $1.8 million in revenue. France is also in this ranking with $147,000 in revenue, just behind Germany ($282,000), the United Kingdom ($212,000) and Japan ($210,000).

This sudden increase confirms theenthusiasm growing awareness of the general public towards artificial intelligence.
