Microsoft has released the Windows 11 24H2 preview, bringing the major operating system update closer to the release of the final version. Windows Insiders can now install the update, as usual, directly via the Windows system settings, after selecting the release preview channel.

If you want to test the new version of Windows in advance, you can sign up for the Windows Insider program for free at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsinsider/getting-started. You can also download the release preview version of Windows 11 24H2 as an ISO. However, the most exciting new features are only available on devices based on the following technologies Qualcomm Snapdragon Microsoft requires an NPU with at least 45 TOPS performance for these functions, so Copilot+ features should also be available on next-generation Intel and AMD PCs in the future.

Users of other PCs will receive at least an improved Copilot, which will be distributed as an application and not a fixed component of Windows. This not only allows users to remove Copilot from the system if necessary, but also allows users to freely position and resize the Copilot window. Additionally, Windows 11 24H2 officially supports Wi-Fi 7 and Sudo for Windows for the first time. Desktop background images can be displayed in HDR after updating, and files can be compressed directly in Explorer as 7-zip or TAR.
