Samsung barely sells more smartphones than Apple

In recent months, Samsung has only just managed to keep Apple behind as the seller of the largest number of smartphones. According to the Canalys investigation office, the American iPhone manufacturer recorded the best third quarter in its history and has never been so close to the position of market leader during this period. The two competitors were neck and neck with a market share of 18 percent.

‘Continued strong demand for the iPhone 15 series played a crucial role in the strong third quarter sales figures, as did the popularity of older Apple models. The market’s shift towards premium devices is favorable for Apple, particularly in areas where the group has a strong position, such as North America and Europe,’ explains Runar Bjørhovde, analyst at Canalys, on the site office web.

This is the fourth consecutive quarter that the total number of smartphones sold has increased, this time by 5 percent. According to Canalys, this is due to strong demand from emerging economies and the fact that people in North America, Europe and China are slowly replacing devices purchased during the corona period.

The Chinese company Xiaomi follows at some distance from the two market leaders with a share of 14 percent. Oppo, another Chinese company, appears in the top 4 for the first time this year with 9 percent of smartphones sold.
