Gigaleak Pokémon: update on Switch 2 rumors, Gen 10 and other information

Game Freak, the main developer of Pokemon, appears to have been the victim of a major hack. As a result, source code for various games, behind-the-scenes information, and more began to hit the internet, from source codes for old Pokémon games to the codename of the Switch 2.

Game Freak’s Pokemon hack today is reminiscent of the Nintendo leak, or “Gigaleak,” which began in 2018 and was also prominent in 2020. This included information about the company’s past consoles, prototypes games and other internal data. Pokemon was even in the mix as the 1997 Nintendo Space World demos for Pokemon Gold and Silver leaked and we got a look at early creature designs. When it comes to Game Freak piracy today, the situation is evolving. We will keep you informed as soon as we know more.

Keep in mind that none of the following is 100% verifiable, so we are talking about rumors here:

• A new Pokémon MMO is being considered, with a file titled “mmo_test” discovered in a leak.
• A combat-focused multiplayer game, titled “CODE NAME: SYNAPSE,” is reportedly in joint development by Game Freak and ILCA. According to leakers, it would be a game “similar to Splatoon”.
• Information about the next generation of Pokémon has also been obtained by hackers, with Generation 10 mentioned as “Gaia”, in development for the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, and with two versions called “K” and ” N”.
• The Switch 2 would be codenamed “Ounce”.
• Source codes and beta versions of Pokémon Heart Gold / Soul Silver et Black 2 / White 2 also leaked
• The Pokemon Company worked with Netflix to help develop a live-action Pokemon series. The series, which does not yet have a title, was expected to be released this year and the first season is expected to consist of eight episodes.

Pokemon Legends : Z-A is the next game from Game Freak and was officially announced earlier this year, in February. Its initial trailer confirmed that the game would take place in Lumiose City and would come to “Nintendo Switch consoles” in 2025. Based on these leaks, it appears to be a “normal Switch game.”
