KT Pocket has revealed the first details of its upcoming gaming console. Apparently, the company plans to challenge the high-end options with the KT-R2, which could be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, capable of storage of up to 512 GB and even a magnesium alloy shell.

The retro handheld gaming console market has exploded in recent years thanks to Anbernic and Powkiddy, among others. It’s safe to say that Anbernic has recently pushed the scene to saturation with its monthly release cycle. So while less than a month has passed since the introduction of the RG406V (currently $249.98 on Amazon), there are now rumors that an RG406P and even an RG408 are on the horizon.

Today, the team behind the KT-R1 shared the first details about its putative successor on a crowdfunding site in China. Unfortunately, KT-Pocket has yet to reveal what the KT-R2 looks like. Instead, she focused on potential specifications.

For example, KT-Pocket is currently working on shipping the KT-R2 with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 gen 2 processor. Apparently, if demand is low in this regard, the company could turn to the more budget-friendly Dimensity 1100 model. , which Retroid already offers in the Pocket 4 Pro. Additionally, the company allows users to configure their ideal KT-R2 by choosing from eight color options and plastic, aluminum alloy, and magnesium alloy shells.

Additionally, there are currently 4G or Wi-Fi connectivity options, as well as variants with 6GB RAM/128GB storage, 8GB RAM/256GB storage, and 12GB RAM/512GB storage . Please note that not all of these models will go into mass production. It seems that only the most popular ones will be adopted. KT-Pocket’s crowdfunding campaign will continue until December, after which it will take three months for the company to obtain technical samples. With the first deliveries expected six months later, it looks like the KT-R2 won’t be available until around this time next year.
