Major police operation, particularly in Wanze: thirteen people arrested for arms and drug trafficking and animals seized (photos)

The investigation carried out by the police made it possible to establish the delivery to the criminal association of eight pallets (of several hundred kilos) from Spain between the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024 as well as sales and purchase activities of firearms. Drug trafficking also included the packaging of synthetic drugs.

Yesterday, Thursday, October 10, 2024, a large operation was carried out by the PJF of Liège, which was helped by the Hesbaye and Meuse-Hesbaye police zones as well as special units and the PAB of Liège, police canine support federal and local, and the services of the DirCo of Liège. More than 130 police officers were mobilized in this vast police operation. Sixteen searches were carried out and thirteen people were arrested.

The work of the police made it possible to dismantle a laboratory for processing and packaging cocaine and synthetic drugs in Wanze. Several narcotics were discovered, including amphetamine paste and oil, cocaine, MDMA, ketamine and morphine. The police also found cutting products and two tablets for synthetic drug pills.

But that’s not all: 19 firearms and numerous ammunition were discovered and seized in several buildings that were searched. The police also found money: more than €75,000 in cash was seized as well as around €125,800 blocked in accounts. During the searches, the police seized several small quantities of cannabis, prohibited weapons (such as telescopic batons, täsers, tear gas sprays, etc.), four reinforced bulletproof vests, four balaclavas and two police-stamped armbands, a jammer frequency and a beacon detector. Nine vehicles (VW, Mercedes, BMW, etc.) and three valuable motorcycles were also seized, as well as 20 lost, expired or misappropriated Belgian identity cards. but also luxury goods such as four brand watches, clothes, bags and valuable objects.

A serval, turtles, marmosets

Finally, in one of the buildings searched, in Floriffoux, the police discovered animals protected by legal prohibitions on detention, such as a serval (a kind of large leopard cat…), turtles, two white-crested marmosets and a flying sugar mouse. glider.

All those arrested were interviewed by investigators and the investigating magistrate. Seven suspects were placed under arrest warrant, notably for drug trafficking, arms trafficking and participation in a criminal association. the investigation is being continued by the traffic division of the PJF of Liège under the authority of investigating judge Jean-Marc Mottet.
