Funny visit to Spiez: In the middle of the night, soldiers infiltrate the garden of an octogenarian

Last Friday, an octogenarian was treated to a strange nighttime visit to her garden: three recruits from the Swiss army!

It was a funny discovery that an octogenarian made while viewing the images from the surveillance camera of her vacation home in Spiez (BE), as we learn from “20 Minutes”. The 86-year-old woman noticed with surprise that at 3:28 a.m. on the night of October 4, three recruits from the Swiss army, in camouflage uniform and assault rifle in hand, had infiltrated her garden.

Stationed in Thun, the three men were carrying out a night-time military exercise. But how did they end up on the retiree’s land? “To go unnoticed, a group spontaneously decided to climb the garden fence and move onto private property,” explains Mathias Volken, army spokesperson, in the columns of “20 Minutes”.

Before continuing: “The recruits had been informed that it was strictly forbidden to enter private land. It will therefore be assessed whether this behavior should result in disciplinary consequences. The soldiers concerned are aware of their error and regret it.”

One thing is certain, if the objective of the three recruits was not to be spotted, it was a failure!
