The American brand Skullcandy caused a sensation in 2006 with the famous Icon Wireless Bluetooth headset, which offered tailor-made ergonomics for extreme athletes at a very affordable price. Today, it is capitalizing on its history by renewing its emblematic range with the Icon ANC. If this new headset takes the over-ear design and some aesthetic elements of the old model, this time it has been designed for versatile everyday use.

Skullcandy Icon ANC: an update to a classic released in 2004

Skullcandy does not provide any information on audio attributes, but announces functions worthy of more expensive nomadic headsets. The Icon ANC first of all gives pride of place to silence with an active noise reduction system. In addition, it obviously offers a Transparency mode adjustable in intensity to stay aware of the environment.

Designed for everyday travel, the headset includes a dedicated microphone for phone calls, a convenient multi-point Bluetooth function and quick pairing on Android via Google Fast Pair. Faithful to the sporting DNA of its predecessor, the Icon ANC also adopts IPX4 certification which guarantees effective protection against splashing water.

For intuitive control on the move, the Icon ANC has physical buttons that are fully customizable from the Skullcandy app. Very complete, the latter also gives access to an equalizer and a low latency mode for audio-video apps. The headset also has the ability to adapt to the user’s hearing profile using the Mimi test.

In terms of autonomy, this headset would be above average with 50 hours announced in noise reduction mode. Complete, comfortable and aesthetic, the Icon ANC could become competitive in the segment of noise reduction headphones for less than €100.

The product is already available at a price of €99 in black and white finishes.
