The App Store’s first competitor is finally arriving on iOS and it even allows you to download a Nintendo game emulator!

EU regulations shake up Apple’s ecosystem. Indeed, the latest European resolutions have pushed the Apple brand to authorize third-party application stores on iPhone. Thus, the AltStore PAL is the first of its type to reveal itself and attempt to compete with the App Store. To stand out, the AltStore highlights the possibility for its users to download a Nintendo console game emulator; something that was unfortunately not possible before.

AltStore, an iOS application that stands out!

Good news for iPhone users: The Apple brand is finally adding a third-party store to its operating system. Indeed, the famous developer Ridley Testut announces that a competing version of the App Store is arriving under the name of the AltStore PAL. From now on, all Apple smartphones will be able to benefit from this new application store from iOS 17.4. To install this store, simply go to the website to start the download. On the other hand, for its installation, it will be necessary to go through various warnings necessary to protect the personal data of users.

Thanks to this store, all applications not authorized by the App Store – and which are verified by AltStore – become accessible to users. This is the case with this famous Nintendo emulator which AltStore uses to attract these users who have always felt restricted by Apple’s rules on its App Store.

In a statement posted on its site, the developer nevertheless affirms that it is not just an emulator story. “ This is about all independent developers who received a phone call telling them their app was rejected, without telling them how to fix it […] Of all the users who think technology is boring today (it is) and assume that’s how it should be (it’s not),” he explains.

Emulating the Nintendo 64 or Nintendo DS on iPhone is now possible!

It’s time to immerse yourself in the fantastic world of Nintendo with the Delta emulator. Thus, 5 years after its launch, this emulator dedicated to iOS and very popular among Nintendo fans can finally be used on iPhone without Jailbreak or third-party installer. And it’s a large collection of retro games that is open to iOS users, with support for several game systems, from the Super Nintendo to the DS:

  • Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), released in 1983;
  • Super Nintendo (SNES or Super Famicom), released in 1990;
  • Nintendo 64 (N64), released in 1996;
  • Game Boy and Game Boy Color (GBC), released in 1989 and 1998 respectively;
  • Game Boy Advance (GBA), released in 2001;
  • Nintendo DS (DS), released in 2004.

In addition, this famous emulator supports Xbox One/Series and PS4/PS5 controllers via Bluetooth, with Delta allowing users toremap their touches. In addition to these possibilities, there are new functions such as voice control of the Nintendo DS. Of course, the traditional functions of emulators are there too; we will mention the quick save and the acceleration of the emulation.
