A good two years ago, Fiona Erdmann, her partner Mohammad and their two children Leo Luan (4) and Neyla (2) moved into a house with a 500 square meter garden in Dubai. There’s actually enough space for the soon-to-be five-member family – Fiona is pregnant with her third child. But due to the situation in Lebanon, Fiona’s mother-in-law and sister-in-law also moved in.

“People who have to discuss our lives… that’s okay too, but please let that be my concern,” the former GNTM candidate begins her Instagram story, referring to recent follower comments about her living situation. “The situation in Lebanon is very, very, very bad. Moe’s mom and sisters were supposed to go back a long time ago. Of course they are staying here now and we absolutely have to get their father back here,” explains the 36-year-old, whose partner and family-in-law come from Lebanon.

This means that everyone currently lives under one roof. A situation that puts additional strain on Fiona because “everything is so small and narrow”. “But just buying a new house and moving isn’t possible.” In addition, Fiona was restrained every time during her last two pregnancies. Before her daughter was born, she barely managed to move into her current house, but then her water broke. “I won’t do it again, especially not at such short notice,” she makes it clear. Instead, the family wants to spend more of the next six to eight months in their large garden, where there is enough space for everyone.

Fiona seems particularly annoyed by comments about her children and the space situation. «I grew up in a small apartment. And I think I speak for many people: We didn’t lack for anything. My children have a huge garden and a huge playground. Otherwise they always play in the living room,” says Erdmann. Neither Leo nor Neyla would need their own rooms, especially since they would always sleep in their parents’ bed anyway. “Children of that age don’t need their own large rooms. At this age, children need love, attention and care,” says Fiona, and finally asks herself: “What’s wrong with some people?”
