In recent days we have noted the arrests of a good number of citizens for various offenses. This Tuesday, the opponent Bougane Gueye Dani in turn received a summons extending the list. One arrest too many for Thierno Alassane Sall who denounces persecution.
In a note, the deputy of the 13th legislature underlines that “Those who literally flooded the National Assembly with insulting speeches, used the Press excessively for very often detestable attacks, systematically sought to denigrate honest citizens, are allergic to criticism.”
For Thierno Alassane Sall “the opponents” to speak of the new authorities in place, “who have used freedom of expression to the limit of what is acceptable are those who, once in power, work to gag the freedom “.
Faced with this situation, TAS expresses its full sympathy to Bougane Gueye and all those who suffer persecution from a regime which is sliding dangerously towards the politicization of the Republic.
The parliamentarian concludes his note in the form of a moral lesson: “We cannot want to export democracy and freedom of expression to the ECOWAS region while relentlessly tracking down columnists, journalists and politicians in our own country.”
