A Joliette gymnasium and its president fined more than $8,000

The Gymnase Underground de Joliette and its president, Éric Picard, were ordered to pay fines of $7,076 and $1,826 after pleading guilty to charges brought under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA).

The Consumer Protection Office accused them of having organized health studio activities between March and June 2022 without having the required permit.

In addition, the company and its president also admitted having received payment for a subscription from a customer in a single payment rather than doing so in two approximately equal parts as provided for in the LPC.
