Manchester United launches 100,000-seat stadium project

A new venue for the Red Devils? According to information from Daily MailManchester United could launch this year its ambitious project of “ New Trafford », an ultra-modern stadium with 100,000 seats at an estimated cost of £2 billion. The working group, including Andy Burnham, Lord Coe and Gary Neville, studied several options before favoring the demolition of Old Trafford to build a new stadium on adjacent land. The final decision will be made at the end of the season, but the arguments in favor of this choice appear solid according to the British media.

While the prospect may spark some nostalgia among supporters attached to Old Trafford's history, the project would offer considerable benefits. A renovation of the current stadium would thus increase the capacity to only 87,000 seats, while a reconstruction would reach 100,000, while boosting a “huge urban regeneration project“. For supporters of this vision, the positive impact of a new stadium on the influence of the club and the surrounding community would therefore be unprecedented. However, the club's recent financial problems could be a major obstacle for such an adventure. To be continued.
