Granit Xhaka was named best Swiss player of the year 2024 during Swiss Football Night. Renato Steffen is the best player in the Super League, while Géraldine Reuteler and Naomi Luyet receive the main trophies for the ladies.
Captain and boss of a Swiss team which reached the quarter-finals of the Euro last summer in Germany, Granit Xhaka received the most prestigious prize of the evening for the 3rd year in a row, the 4th in total. The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder was preferred to Vaudois Dan Ndoye (Bologna) and Manuel Akanji (Manchester City).
Another international, Renato Steffen is the best Super League player of the year 2024, a trophy that Dereck Kutesa (Servette) and Filip Ugrinic (Young Boys) also coveted. He led FC Lugano, league leaders before the restart, to a final 2nd place in 2023/24.
Among the men, the best youngster is the former Lucern player Ardon Jashari, who has 2 selections for the Swiss A team and now plays in Bruges. Finally, the last trophy, which recognizes the best player playing in the Challenge League, went to FC Aarau attacking midfielder Valon Fazliu.
