DDonald Trump will be able to count on the presence of the Village People. The disco group, famous for its hit “YMCA”, has agreed to play at Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony on January 20. “We know that this will make people unhappy, but we believe that music must live without political considerations,” explained the group’s founder, Victor Willis, on his Facebook page this Monday, January 13.

“Our song Y.M.C.A. “is a global anthem that can hopefully bring the country together after a tumultuous and divided campaign in which our favorite candidate lost,” he added, referring to Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, who they supported during the American election campaign.

The song “YMCA”, also cult for its choreography, is regularly heard during Donald Trump’s rallies. The Republican has also gotten into the habit of performing a few dance steps. The group had however threatened to file a complaint against the person concerned, in November 2020, after his defeat in the presidential election. The rights holders accused him of having used their musical work without authorization in the last days of his electoral campaign.
