Issa Kaboré has been loaned by Manchester City to Werder Bremen, the two clubs announced on Monday.
He was only fielded seven times, 193 minutes in all, for Benfica, to whom he had been on loan since last summer.
A playing time considered very insufficient by ManCity, who transferred the right back to another team for the next six months.
The Burkinabe international (23 years old, 40 caps, 2 goals), former Mechelen player (34 matches and 7 assists between 2019 and 2021), will indeed end the season in the Bundesliga, where he will have two former Unionists, Senne Lynen and Mohamed Amoura, as teammates.
Olivier Deman (ex-Cercle de Bruges) is, however, back in the Jupiler Pro League, and more precisely in Antwerp (see Footnews: https://urls.fr/mHG_Rv).
He has never worn the Skyeblues jersey!
The Red Devil (4 caps) signed up for Werder Bremen in the summer of 2023, and has played 40 matches since (2 goals, 1 assist).
Kaboré joined Mechelen and Europe in the summer of 2019. He then moved around (still on loan) over the following years between Troyes, Marseille and Luton Town, without ever participating in a single match with the Skyblues, to whom his contract binds him until 2027.
Werder Bremen are seventh in the Bundesliga with 25 points, just two points off the podium.
