Number 1 has formalized the departure of the goalkeeper who will continue his career in Serie A after several seasons spent at Bosuil.
As announced (read here), Jean Butez joined Italy under the colors of Como, promoted to Serie A. The Frenchman leaves Belgium after having left his mark on the JPL with his 170 matches played under the colors of Antwerp.
Trained at LOSC, he took his first steps in Belgium under the colors of Mouscron at Canonnier in 2017 and has not left the country since. He now has the opportunity to breathe new life into his career, but will have to compete with a goalkeeper of the caliber of Pepe Reina (ex-Liverpool).
Butez said goodbye to Antwerp in a video shared on the networks of his now former club. The emotion is palpable when the Frenchman remembers his beginnings at Bosuil, the meetings and moments that marked him, the staff, employees and coaches with whom he worked, without forgetting his teammates and supporters, before punctuating with a “Go Antwerp!”.
He joins a completely different challenge with a promoted Serie A who is in 16th place in the ranking, only one point from the red zone and who will travel to Lazio in three days, before receiving AC Milan during the day following.
