The president of the National Wrestling Management Committee (CNG), Malick Ngom, announced a series of reforms for the 2024-2025 season, in an exclusive interview with Les Echos.
Malick Ngom thus mentioned the emblematic title of King of the Arena, a subject which often arouses passionate debates among wrestling fans. “The world of wrestling, the press, fans have always recognized the King of the arenas. I don’t see why the CNG wouldn’t recognize it as well,” the president said. However, he insists on the need to establish clear and objective criteria for awarding this title.
The objective is to make the Senegalese Wrestling Night, scheduled for the end of the season, a flagship event where the title of King of the Arena will be officially awarded. “We will review the criteria justifying that a particular wrestler is King of the arenas, in accordance with the expectations of amateurs and the components of wrestling,” he added. The former referee, now at the head of the CNG, wishes to modernize the discipline while respecting its traditions. These reforms aim to strengthen organization and transparency, while bringing together those involved in the struggle around a common vision.
