Tennis is gradually waking up from its autumn break! On the program for this first week in blue of the year, the first career title for Alexandre Müller, a half for “Gio” Mpetshi-Perricard, two finals in Challenger, padel and a French triumph at the Open 10-12 .
ATP: Müller, hit, never sunk
A triumph under the sign of courage. Alexandre Müller won at the ATP 250 in Hong Kong – the very first ATP title of his career – after a victory in the final over Kei Nishikori, former world 4th. The resident of Blanc Mesnil Sport Tennis spared no effort: he won the tournament having conceded the first set in all his matches! In the history of the ATP circuit, this has only happened twice! This Monday morning, the 27-year-old Frenchman is ranked 56th in the world (+11), his best career ranking.
In other latitudes, Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard confirmed its breathtaking 2024 season by reaching the semi-finals in Brisbane. “Gio”, 21, enters the ATP Top 30 for the first time, also enjoying the best ranking of his young career.
Two Challenger finals
A division below, Grégoire Barrère for its part, started the year with a final in Nonthaburi (Thailand). On this same Challenger circuit, Pierre-Hugues Herbert also reached a final, in doubles, in Canberra (Australia) with the Swiss Kym.
Also note the finale of Alyssa Reguer in doubles at “35000$” in Nairobi (Kenya) and Mathys Erhard in Indore ($25,000, India). Among the juniors, Romain Andres won the doubles title at the J60 in Arlon (Belgium), associated with Briton Liam Channon.
A triumph in blue at the TCBB Open 10/12
Throughout its history, the TC Boulogne-Billancourt Open 10-12 has seen some of the best players in the world take part. The Ile-de-France tournament has thus become one of the most prestigious events on the Tennis Europe circuit.
For its 36th edition, the competition was the scene of a 100% blue final for boys: Thiago Carmasol (licensed at Mondeville USO) won the title after a final victory over Yan Pelle. Among the girls, the best Frenchwoman in the table was Victory Kokosemi-finalist.
Padel: three P1000 to celebrate the start of the year
There were no less than three P1000 finals this weekend all over France. At the Open Mam’s Padel, Laurine Bergaud et Alison Casalli de Lima defeated Kimy Barla and Lou Lambert Agosti for the title.
On the male side, the pairs Thomas Seux / Arthur Hugounenq et Charles Gortzounian / Paul Forichon won respectively at Clermont Padel Club and Padel Campus Arena.
