Eurovision in May in Basel and the women’s football Euro in July across the country: these two events alone are expected to attract 900,000 spectators. The CFF will use a number of special trains to transport the public to the sites. For the few days that Eurovision will last, 85 convoys will circulate. There will be around 300 during the women’s Euro, the CFF announced this Tuesday, with matches, on the French side, planned in Geneva and Sion.
In total, during the year 2025, around 1,600 special trains will be mobilized. “In comparison, there were 650 special trains last year,” note the CFF, which speaks of “the year of all superlatives”. The SBB is a partner of some of the events. For example, if you have a ticket for a Euro match, this serves as your transport ticket for the trip to the stadium and back. On the German side, there are also offers for the Swiss Federal Wrestling Festival and the Alpine Games in Mollis (GL) in August.
Special trains will also be in circulation for the Federal Gymnastics Festival, which will take place this year in Lausanne. “Special trains also provide transport to events that occur every year, such as the Street Parade, the Swiss Skills in Bern, various open air events, stadium concerts and popular festivals. The SBB and all Swiss public transport thus make an important contribution to the success of these events,” says the railway company.
