Despite Zanka’s frequent errors, Anderlecht’s defense is, along with that of the Union, the best in the championship. However, Hein Vanhaezebrouck is very critical of Jan-Carlo Simic, who nevertheless held up rather well.
At Sporting Anderlecht, it was necessary to compose the defensive sector without Jan Vertonghen, injured since the end of the second day of the championship and victim of a new sprain this week.
It was therefore two summer recruits, Zanka and Jan-Carlo Simic, who constituted the central defense of the Mauves during the first round. And Anderlecht is, with the Union, the team which has conceded the fewest goals in our championship (18 in 20 matches).
There are, however, many criticisms, which mainly concern Zanka. Author of a new error against Dender before the break, the Dane was whistled by Lotto Park and reacted. His departure this winter seems quite certain, especially since a club has already inquired about him.
Hein Vanhaezebrouck is not convinced by the performances of Jan-Carlo Simic
But Jan-Carlo Simic is not all white either, according to Hein Vanhaezebrouck. In an interview given to Newspaperthe former coach of La Gantoise and Anderlecht, now an analyst, attacked the 19-year-old Serb quite severely.
“We talk a lot about Zanka, but he arrived for free. Simic cost three million euros and honestly, he’s not doing much better. Recently he gave an interview in Italy in which he said he was the man of the situation. My God! He’s been here for six months and literally makes no progress, since he always comes back with the ball. A very harsh observation for a defender already watched at European level, who is playing his first season at this level.
