Mechelen takes another step towards its first acquisition

FC Mechelen continues to quietly dream of the first six places, even if it shot itself in the foot by obtaining only three points out of 15 before the winter break. Besnik Hasi has therefore asked for reinforcements in recent weeks and seems to be listened to.

Mechelen moves closer to Wales

The coach asked to correct the mistakes made during the summer transfer window, particularly by focusing on his defense. Mechelen brought in Jules Van Cleemput and Zinho Vanheusden over the summer, but they barely survived injuries. Vanheusden could even be absent this season.

A first defensive acquisition could soon take place. In recent days, the KVM already seemed to be in pole position to capture Stephen Welsh. The 24-year-old Scot could be loaned to Celtic.

Celtic have secured a replacement

This transfer seems to be getting a little closer. Indeed, on Saturday, Celtic ended Dane Murray’s loan at Queen’s Park. The 21-year-old is expected to take Welsh’s place as the fourth central defender in the core.

The path therefore seems clear for Welsh to sign for Mechelen. According to Scottish sources, this would be a loan without a purchase option.
