Top 14 – Ronan O’Gara (La Rochelle) optimistic about Jonathan Danty’s injury: “He won’t be out for two months”

On the sidelines of the narrow victory against Stade (22-19), Ronan O’Gara returned to Jonathan Danty’s injury. The Stade Rochelais manager was optimistic about the duration of unavailability of his center, injured in the knee.

At the end of this bitter tasting victory against the young people of Stade Toulouse, the manager presented himself at a post-match press conference where he spoke at length about the ills of his team. Beyond today’s performance and the overall difficulties at mid-season, Ronan O’Gara spoke about the Jonathan Danty case. Hit in the knee during the match against a week ago, the three-quarter center of Stade Rochelais therefore joined the infirmary. Romain Carmignani then explained that the French international had simply “blocked his knee” without however precisely indicating a duration of unavailability.

He will miss, I hope, six weeks. Four weeks, maybe.

A few days later, an operation as well as a two-month absence was mentioned in the columns of the Team. Information that seemed to surprise Ronan O’Gara: “Two months!? (looking surprised Editor’s note) No! No, he’s not going to be absent for two months […] His knee hurts. But… My information is that we have a very good medical team here. He will miss, I hope, six weeks. Four weeks, maybe.” The subject of the operation, however, will not be discussed by the manager of Stade Rochelais. Although an absence of six weeks is significantly closer to an absence of two months, the former fly-half was in any case optimistic about the absence of Jonathan Danty even mentioning only four weeks of unavailability. Please note that, for the time being, the exact diagnosis of this injury has not been communicated. One thing is certain, the absence of the center will necessarily weigh heavily on this La Rochelle team at the dawn of important deadlines such as the arrival of Leinster at Marcel-Deflandre.
