The Les Vidéophages association will organize the next edition of the Fait de l’Image festival in the bucolic setting of the Bassin des Filters, on July 5 and 6.

Since 2002, the districts of have served as a playground and projection space for the Les Vidéophages association. After Rangueil last year, but also Bonnefoy, Jolimont, Le Busca, Empalot, Borderouge, Saint-Cyprien and Les Minimes, during previous editions, the Fait de l’Image festival will take place at the Bassin des Filters, July 5 and 6.

At the end of rue des Amidonniers, this hydraulic device, built from 1842, made it possible to filter the water from the Garonne which passed through the Brienne canal. It is part of a historic ensemble, including the port of l’Embouchure, point of convergence between the Canal du Midi, the Canal de Garonne and the Canal de Brienne. Situated within the protection perimeter of the Ponts-Jumeaux bas-relief, this site benefits from protection as a Historic Monument.

Rediscover the city

“Each year, we look for a new venue for the festival,” explain the organizers of the Les Vidéophages association. “The choice of location is guided, on the one hand, by the desire of the collective to discover little-known or barely visible corners of the city because they are far from the main traffic axes, and, on the other hand, to transform the urban landscape crossed frequently on a daily basis. The alternation of streets and gardens, from one year to the next, allows you to explore the city to reveal its architectural, cultural and social assets.”

A different site every year to invent a new scenography, meet new audiences, offer original programming, designed in relation to the place and the theme.

With its century-old trees, its bodies of water and its abundant vegetation, the Bassin des Filters is a true oasis of greenery which will be transformed into a space for visual and sound installations, performances and open-air cinema thanks to a program during the day and at night.

Call for projects

To supply the 12 hours of short films and the 35 artistic projects that will be offered during the festival, the Vidéophages are launching a call for projects until January 17.

The next edition of the Fait de l’Image festival will take place at the Bassin des Filters.

“We are looking for audiovisual installations, interactive or not, daytime or nighttime, but also performances mixing different artistic practices, linked to image and video, on the theme Without Filter,” add the organizers. “The call for projects also concerns exhibitions: photographs, painting, collages, plastic arts, film concerts and workshops for making still, animated or sound images.”

Fait de l’Image will, like every year, allow you to enjoy the best-of short films, presented all year round, during monthly evenings.

Saturday July 5 and Sunday July 6, from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., at Bassin des Filters (rue des Amidonniers) in Toulouse. FREE ENTRANCE. For the call for projects, send an email to: [email protected] or by post to Association Les Vidéophages, Festival Fait de l’Image, 9 rue de l’étoile, 31 000 Toulouse. A response will be given in February. www.lesvideophages.org
