Lens: Neil El Aynaoui on the departure list

Neil El Aynaoui, Franco-Moroccan midfielder, is one of the Sang et Or players placed on the departure list during this winter transfer window.

In an article posted online this Thursday, December 2, Top Mercato reports that the leaders of the club are considering downsizing their workforce to replenish their coffers.

“In the grip of financial difficulties, the Racing Club de Lens has set itself the objective of selling €44 million during the month of January. To relieve its coffers, the northern club is considering the departure of 10 players, even if it is certain that not all of them will pack their bags by the 31st,” underlines the media specializing in transfers.

8 million euros

“Despite playing nine games this season, the Franco-Moroccan midfielder is not part of Will Still’s plans. In this 2024-2025 season, the 23-year-old player has only started three times, for only two appearances in the starting eleven on Ligue 1 pitches,” adds Top Mercato.

Under contract with RC Lens until June 2027, Neil El Aynaoui is worth eight million euros on the transfer market, according to Transfermarkt. “An amount that is probably too large given its current situation,” estimates the aforementioned media.

Born on July 2, 2001 in in , the son of the former national tennis glory, Younes El Aynaoui, holds dual French-Moroccan nationality. He played for AS Nancy between 2021 and 2023 before joining RC Lens. Selected for the Moroccan Olympic national team by Issame Charaï, he played in a friendly match against Brazil in Fez in June 2023. Preselected by Walid Regragui for CAN 2024, he did not respond to the call.
