Senegal has its first major MMA (mixed martial arts) champion. On November 9, « Reug Reug »whose real name is Oumar Kane, won his fight in Bangkok against Anatoly Malykhin. He thus won the title of world heavyweight champion of the One Championship, one of the most important leagues in the world of MMA. Even the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, was delighted: “He honors Senegal and inspires an entire generation. Our nation is proud of this achievement”. For several days, “Reug Reug”, 32 years old, 1.93 m tall and 120 kg, made the headlines in the newspapers in his country.
The fighter put on a show as the very commercial institutions of MMA require. The two men then grabbed each other, forcing their staff to separate them. Guaranteed buzz.
