She made headlines in September 2023 with her 800 km bicycle journey from Nantes to Lourdes. Anaïs Le Ménahèze wanted to show “that even if you are fat, you can do sport” and put a stop to prejudices about the disease that is obesity.
His adventure was recounted in a 40 minute documentary film (see below), released on March 4, 2024, World Obesity Day.
The young thirty-year-old, originally from Maisdon-sur-Sèvre (in Loire-Atlantique), continues to promote it for raise awareness among the general publicbut also health professionals, in university hospitals and clinics in the region. “I have a request to the Orléans University Hospital and the CPTS of Saint-Philbert-de-Grand-Lieu,” confided Anaïs, a few days before Christmas.
From Nantes to Lyon
The bike? He doesn't leave her anymore. Last September, she went for a trip to Brittany. A little taste of what awaits at the beginning of April 2025.
The one who now lives in Saint-Etienne-de-Montluc (near Nantes) plans to reach Lyon by bike, by borrowing exclusively the Loire by bike before branching off at Nevers towards the capital of Gaul.
“I would then like to go to Montpellier then Bordeaux and go back to Nantes,” adds Anaïs, who is in the process of equipping herself with a new cart “lighter and more water resistant” than the one at Nantes-Lourdes.
Anaïs plans to intervene in as many schools as possible
His new journey is supposed last three to five months “according to my state of form”. A human and sporting adventure but not only that.
I plan to intervene in as many schools as possible to continue to raise awareness about obesity, a disease that is still discriminated against today. And also among health professionals because there is a lack of kindness and understanding of this disease.
The year 2025 will be marked also by a “swimming challenge” planned for September. But surprise, the location will be revealed later.
“These projects really make me feel good, I get great feedback. In addition, I noticed that during my cycling trips, I do not have binge eating attacks.”
