ASC Médine de Dagana shone by winning the regional phase of the popular national football championship in Saint-Louis, a competition closely followed in northern Senegal. Their victory, won on penalties against Étoile de Rosso Senegal, ended with a close score of 5-4. This success was hailed in a match where regulation time ended in a 0-0 draw.
Thanks to this triumph, Médine, representing zone 1 of Dagana, takes over from ASC Réveil, a formation also from Dagana. This success allows the team to wear the colors of the Saint-Louis region during the next national phases of the “navétanes”, organized by the National Body for the Coordination of Holiday Activities (ONCAV).
Before this decisive final, Médine had shown its strength by successively eliminating Diambars in the round of 16, Mbodjenne in the quarter-final and Coossan in the semi-final, all played on penalties. This defining journey highlights their competitiveness and resilience.
For its part, Étoile de Rosso, opponent in the final, had previously brought down the champion of the Podor department, Yaakar de Ndioum, during the round of 16, then dismissed Bouteyni de Gaé and Sam-Sam de Thiago in the quarter and a half -final respectively. These intense matches took place in Dagana and Richard-Toll, locations chosen for these phases due to the absence of the Saint-Louis teams, the result of a dispute with the regional body.
