Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jégou were recently acquitted by the Argentine courts in the gang rape case between them and an Argentine woman who had filed a complaint against them in July. Following the court decision which confirmed the dismissal of the case in favor of the players, the plaintiff's lawyers had already announced that an appeal would be filed, and that the prosecution was even ready to use all the remedies in its possession to make hear his version.
A call at the beginning of February
As for the appeal request, our colleagues from Le Parisien reveal that it will be examined on February 10, at 2 p.m. (i.e. 10 a.m. in France). The lawyers of the two players, however, remain very calm regarding this appeal which would be “no effect”according to the words of Me German Hnatow. “The judge was very clear and precise in her deliberations, just as the three prosecutors in charge of the case had been before her, all based on evidence”adds the council.
During this appeal hearing, which will take place at the Collegiate Court of Mendoza, the lawyers of both parties will meet face to face, and the prosecutors who investigated the case will also be present. The decision could take several days or weeks to be rendered. And if the appeal confirms the dismissal, it is specified that according to Argentine law, the case will be definitively closed and dismissed.
