Colin Coosemans continues to impress with Anderlecht. Hein Vanhaezebrouck hailed him in his team of the year but preferred Simon Mignolet.
It is now as an analyst that Hein Vanhaezebrouck has ventured to put together a typical eleven for the year 2024 in the Pro League. The exercise is perilous, he realized this from the choice of the goalkeeper position.
The former Ghent coach regrets the situation of Jean Butez : “I’ve been a big fan for a long time. He’s not the most spectacular goalkeeper, but he’s extremely proactive. Therefore, he doesn’t need to make spectacular saves.”
But with six months spent on the Antwerp bench, HVH could not reasonably install the Frenchman between the poles of his eleven of the year. The same observation ultimately applies to Colin Coosemanswho remained in the shadow of Kasper Schmeichel last season.

“He is currently the best goalkeeper on Belgian pitches. However, I am not going to choose him. He did not play a full year at Anderlecht” confirms the former coach of La Gantoise.
Vanhaezebrouck’s choice therefore falls on Simon Mignolet : “He wasn’t the best goalkeeper in the first part of 2024 and not in the second part either. But Simon is extremely consistent. That’s why he deserves all the recognition.” At 36 years old, the former Red Devil still does great service for Club Brugge, as he showed with his classy saves against Union and on other occasions this season.
