Logan Mailloux has collected 15 points in 25 games since the start of the season in the American League.
Basically, we can say that this is respectable production for a 21-year-old defender.
But for 18 games, nothing has been going well offensively for the Montreal Canadiens’ hopeful. It’s more than difficult…
It’s not necessarily complicated to understand: since November 15, Mailloux has scored one small goal and has only collected two assists.
Add to that the fact that he has a -9 record in his last 18 games, that he now plays on the 2nd power play… And that allows us to realize that he is going through a really average period.
It’s ordinary when you look at his file:
The defender is currently in his second professional season.
He seems to have been hit hard by the famous misfortune of the second year… Even if it started really well for the defender.
Remember that Mailloux played five games with the CH at the start of the season, that he did well offensively (three points, including a goal) and that he also totaled nine points in his first four games of the campaign with the Rocket .
It may be too early to press the panic button because the sample is relatively thin, but we still have to admit that everyone wants to see more from him.
Everyone knows that the defender has what it takes to succeed and maybe it’s just a down period… But let’s say he’s not buying himself a recall right now.
And with Barron officially leaving, it’s up to Mailloux to give more to solidify his place within the CH organization chart among right-handed defenders.
Note also that since November 15, where things started to go badly for Mailloux, the Rocket has a record of eight victories, eight defeats and two other losses in overtime.
It’s not awful… But the Canadian’s home club is really better when its number one defender plays like a number one defender.
It’s up to Mailloux to get back on track, therefore.
In burst
– Difficult to forget.
– Oh yes?
– Beau but.
– Things are going well in Ottawa.
– His return will have to wait.
