The events took place on the night of Wednesday January 1 to Thursday January 2 in Marguerittes in the Gard.
On the night of Wednesday January 1 to Thursday January 2, around 4 a.m., a burglary occurred in the buildings of the Baumel company in Marguerittes in the Gard, reports Midi Libre, a company specializing in gunsmithing but which , for the Gard company at least and in the same buildings, also offers for sale, in partnership with Point Vert, animal feed and products intended for animals.
Inventory and investigation in progress
During this burglary, according to information from Midi libre, around fifty weapons were stolen, including “Kalashnikovs, automatic, semi-automatic pistols, submachine guns and ammunition”, specifies France 3, taking up information from France Bleu.
The regional chain subsequently contacted the management of the Baumel company who clarified that the theft had been committed in the pet store, and not in the gun store, two stores where an inventory was in progress this Thursday, not determined by the burglary but planned by the company.
The burglar(s) perhaps hoped that with this closure for inventory, the theft would not be discovered until later.
However, the theft of these weapons was confirmed by the public prosecutor of Nîmes Stéphane Bertrand.
An investigation opened by the Nîmes gendarmerie will have to clarify the circumstances of this burglary as well as the exact nature of the loot.
