Around 10:30 a.m., firefighters from the Saint-Apollinaire fire safety service were called to the scene of a building fire, on rue des Cèdres.
Upon their arrival, the firefighters quickly noticed the widespread conflagration. “For the main building, it’s a total loss,” confirms Martin Miller, director of the Saint-Apollinaire fire department.
Around thirty firefighters from the Saint-Apollinaire, Saint-Agapit, Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly and Laurier Station fire departments were mobilized to fight the flames.
The four occupants, two adults and two children, had already evacuated the residence before the firefighters arrived. The event caused no injuries.
Accidental
According to the director of the Saint-Apollinaire fire department, the cause of the fire was accidental. “It was probably an exterior fire that spread to the building,” specifies M. Miller.
The neighboring house also suffered some damage. An investigation is underway to determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the event.
Outpouring of generosity
Touched by the event, several local citizens volunteered on Facebook to help the family during this difficult time.
Under the publication of a family friend, several Internet users offer clothes for the two young children.
