Although his stay was shorter than expected, Vincent Kompany had a major impact on several players he met at Sporting Anderlecht. Simion Michez never had his chance in the A team, with the Mauves, but he will never forget the passage of Vince the Prince.

When Sporting Anderlecht joined forces with Vincent Kompany, the club thought they had found their head coach for several seasons. Things ultimately didn’t go as planned.

However, many players are delighted to have had the opportunity to work with the current Bayern Munich manager, even if they did not receive their chance at the first team. Among them, the talented Simion Michez.

The 22-year-old spent no less than 15 years in the RSC Anderlecht academy. And if Vincent Kompany saw potential in him, the right midfielder first joined Beerschot, then Slavia Prague. Holder in four of the first five Europa League matches, the Belgian-Cameroonian, native of Charleroi, will therefore return to the Mauves this Thursday.

“I never made my debut for the Anderlecht first team, but Kompany worked intensely with me,” he said in an interview with Newspaper. “I was a wing forward growing up, but Vinnie made me a real hard-working winger who helped with defensive duties. I still use his advice today.”

Simion Michez will never forget Anderlecht. He also had one of the best years of his life at RSCA Futures, for which a certain David Hubert was captain. “Without David, this would never have been possible. We all had talent: Noah Sadiki, Lucas Stassin, Ilay Camara… But David Hubert brought us experience as captain.”

“He was the big brother. He reminded us that we had to be disciplined: arrive on time, do exercises in the gym, don’t dribble unnecessarily… It will be fun to face David now that he is there. head coach of Anderlecht.”
