World Cup. Val Thorens: A great first qualification for the Blues

The first qualification of the season delivered its verdict this Wednesday in Val Thorens. If they have not signed the best times, eight tricolors out of 14 will be on track Thursday for the first finals.

This time it’s gone. After a false start on Tuesday, the hundred or so skiers on the circuit launched their winter this Wednesday in Val Thorens.
Among the women, if it was the Swedish comeback Sandra Naeslund who resumed her good habits by dominating the time, the Blues shone. Thus, Marielle Berger Sabbatel, Mylène Ballet-Baz, Anouck Errard, for her first start in the World Cup, and Jade Grillet Aubert easily entered the top 16. Only Mathilde Brodier did not reach it on the Tricolore side.

Among the men, it goes for Melvin Tchiknavorian, 6th in this first qualification. It’s also good for his cousin Terence as well as Youri Duplessis-Kergomard and Romain Mari. No finals for Alexis Jay, Evan Klufts, Ambroise Paget, Tom Barnoin and Antoine de Galbert. Hard blow on the other hand for Nicolas Raffort, withdrawal, after having blocked his back in training.

A second qualification will take place at the beginning of the afternoon, before the two events on Thursday and Friday, in Val Thorens.
