Moroccan environmentalist Saad Abid received the prestigious “Social Impact Award” during the Global Entrepreneurship Festival (GEF), organized from November 22 to 24 in Akure, Nigeria. This prize rewards his initiatives in favor of the environment, youth and social innovation.
The GEF, which brought together more than 5,000 participants on site and 20 million viewers online, was held under the theme “Beyond Borders: Eradicating Poverty through Entrepreneurship”. The ceremony was attended by Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Saad Abid, known for his commitment to the Bahri association, has distinguished himself through projects such as cleaning Moroccan beaches, raising awareness among young people about environmental protection and recycling waste. In 2016, he mobilized 5,400 volunteers to organize the largest beach cleanup in Morocco. In 2024, its project “Chbyka”, focused on marine conservation, was also awarded at the Ocean Love Innovation Awards in The Hague.
Former Moroccan surfing champion, Saad Abid transformed his passion for sport into a career dedicated to social and environmental change. He spoke with emotion upon receiving this award: “This honor belongs to all those who believe in the power of commitment and positive change.”
