Despite the cold and snow in Wankdorf, the Servettians won 4-0 against a YB team in good shape.
A Geneva defense put to the test
From the first minutes of the match, YB created several chances, but the nets did not shake thanks to the intervention of Korpela. On their first corner, Servette opened the scoring: Paula Serrano placed a perfect header and the ball ended up in the back of the net.
The Bernese put the Servetti defense under pressure several times, with five clear chances. Fortunately for the Garnets, none found the net before tea.
Action-reaction
Coming back from half-time, YB had a huge opportunity with a shot that ended on the board. But the Servettians react immediately: after Bernese loses the ball, Imane Saoud goes alone on goal, dribbles past the goalkeeper and scores. And two!
In the 59th minute, the first Geneva changes took place: the two scorers, Paula Serrano and Imane Saoud, gave way to Lázaro and Simonsson. Another double change occurs in the 67th minute: Imène El Ghazouani and Manon Revelli replace Sandrine Mauron and Daïna Bourma.
Servette gets a free kick, perfectly kicked by Joana Marchão, who finds Yenifer Giménez in the area. And three! Barely time to savor when Revelli recovers the ball, passes it to Korhonen who plays a one-two with El Ghazouani before throwing it deep. And four! We will remember the very beautiful gesture of Imène El Ghazouani. The match ended with a crushing victory for José Barcala’s players.
Player of the match
Paula Serrano, the 33-year-old Spaniard, was everywhere. Scorer in the first half, she also played a key role in numerous Servetti chances.
The Servettians temporarily regain first place in the ranking. Note that the other matches of the day were postponed due to snow. After a week of international break, the SFCCF will play its next championship match against Aarau.
