Loïc Meillard is the strong man of the Swiss slalom team. The skier from Hérémence took 5th place on Sunday in Gurgl after a superb comeback in the second round. Victory went to Clément Noël, as to Levi a week earlier.

Only 14th at the end of the initial round, Loïc Meillard was able to recover perfectly in the afternoon. The skier from Hérémence, 3rd in Finland where he had not felt any back pain, produced much smoother skiing on the second route. With the 2nd time of this second round at stake.
Loïc Meillard, who was 1”78 behind Clément Noël and more than eight tenths off the podium after one round, finally failed 0”61 behind the winner and 0”17 from 3rd place held by the Norwegian Atle Lie McGrath. A symbol of his consistency at the highest level, he scored his sixth consecutive top 10 in slalom.
Clément Noël won his second success in a row, the 12th in total in slalom. He thus finds himself one length behind the French record holder for victories in the discipline, Jean-Noël Augier. On Sunday, he managed his effort after a dream first round, winning with a 0”43 lead over Swede Kristoffer Jakobsen.
Yule thirteenth
Loïc Meillard was the only Swiss to shine on Sunday. Daniel Yule must therefore be content with 13th place. The Valaisan, only 22nd in Levi and 21st on the initial route on Sunday, nevertheless knew how to let go of the horses in the second round in Gurgl where he had finished 5th a year earlier.
Yule was able to enter the top 15 in particular due to the poor performance of Tanguy Nef on the second route. The Genevan, 9th in the morning, accumulated mistakes in the afternoon to fall to 22nd place. He thus did not confirm his remarkable 5th place from Levi, even if he showed good things on the first course in Gurgl.
Luca Aerni, who largely missed qualifying in Levi (40th on the initial route), will certainly not be satisfied with his 24th place. The Haut-Valaisan Ramon Zenhaüsern, just qualified, set the worst time on the second course. He finished 30th.
