The battle was tough on Valderolian lands. Neck and neck all day, the Spaniard Joël Moscatel, the Dutchman Wil Besseling and the Frenchman Benjamin Hebert competed for first place until the last moments. While the Barcelonan and the Habs were a notch behind the Dutchman – at -13 at the start of the last hole – the two men made a birdie on hole n°18 to return to -14, while their opponent conceded a bogey at the worst time.

The two men therefore launched into a play-off to determine the winner. And with a putter in the bunker and a missed exit, Benjamin Hebert lost to the Spaniard on hole no. 10, after a very good day at -5: “I had a big day, I had a good start to the game. I left myself a lot of opportunities for birdies unfortunately the putter was a little less hot than yesterday, that’s what’s a little problematic at the moment because I’m in the process of rebuilding a lot of things in my game. big game is more and more solid and it’s true that on the fairway I had a lot of birdie opportunities that I didn’t make and that’s what cost me a little at the end. On the way back, in important moments, I managed to find a little calm on the greens and make putts, make birdies to get the play-off. I wasn’t leading the tournament at all, just the birdie at 18 that did that and it was a great day, there’s a lot of positives to take away.” sums up the man with six victories on the Challenge Tour.

The Spanish conqueror

With remarkable calm and concentration, Joël Moscatel won his second victory of the season: “I’m really happy, I’m recovering from my emotions. It was an incredible day, I don’t regret anything, it was a difficult day but I played pretty well, and my attitude was incredible, so I’m very happy,” said the winner.

Having passed through the European Card Finals last November, the 25-year-old missed out on the coveted top 25 to access the European Tour. But with the Spanish “grinta”, the Barcelona player has found the path to success and is now closer than ever to joining the European Tour (3rd at the Road To Mallorca): “It was difficult, but at the same time my first goal was to make the Q-School cards and have a full card on the Challenge Tour. Playing with these guys who are playing really well and knowing I can compete with them gave me a lot of confidence. Now I’ve won twice, it’s incredible, I can’t believe it.” explained the Catalan.

Guillamoundeguy in the top 10

Benjamin Hebert shared the top 10 with another Frenchman. At only 19 years old, Oihan Guillamoundeguy entered the top 10 for the second time for his first season on the Challenge Tour. The player from Hossegor scored 6 birdies and 2 bogeys to finish at -10 total on this last day of competition.

Behind him, we find Félix Mory, 12th at -8, followed by Sébastien Gros, 16th at -7. Andoni Etchenique is 29th at -5 ahead of Pierre Pineau, Julien Quesne, Alexander Levy and Ugo Malcor, 34th at -4. Finally, Romain Wattel is 47th at -3, Martin Couvra and Grégory Bourdy are 50th at -2, Theo Brizard and in par in 57th position, Damien Perrier is 60th at +2 while Mathieu Decottignies-Lafon concludes the French ranking in 62nd position at +4.
