Tour de France: Romain Bardet wins his first yellow jersey to the delight of the Brivadois

This is his last Tour de France. And his first yellow jersey ! Romain Bardet from Brivadois won when first stage of the 111th Tour de France Saturday June 29. He will therefore ride the 200 km between Cesenatico and Bologna in Italy wearing this t-shirt. To the greatest pride of his fans, starting with his father.

“Whatever happens, his Tour is already a success”

Philippe Bardet was at the start of the first stage. He will be at the start of the second to see his son wear the yellow jersey. And yet, even he didn’t believe it: “It’s so difficult that I hadn’t even thought about it at any time of the day!“Before adding:”Whatever happens, his Tour is already successful, since he has a fourth stage victory and then he will have worn the yellow jersey. So of course, he will try to defend it tomorrow, but if he loses it, it doesn’t matter: we are already delighted with this result!

Bardet Bend

Romain Bardet’s ultra fans were also delighted. They formed a collective, Bardet Bendto gocheer on July 10th during the 11th stage of the Tour de France which will take place at his home in Haute-Loire. And as soon as the cyclist from Brivadois won, many people joined the movement: “We saw that on Whatsapp people were starting to ask for carpools to meet up and go together to the event.“, says Sofiane, one of the members of the collective.

He too did not miss a crumb of this first stage of the Tour de France, in the grip of great suspense: “10 kilometers from the finish, I told myself that it might be complicated. At 5 kilometers, I saw how dedicated he was to go to the end, I said: “that’s good, she’s the victory for him”. I banged my fist on the table three times to encourage him. It was incredible!
