The race was lively from the formation lap: poleman Dennis Hauger stalled, as did Kush Maini and Jak Crawford. All three cars left the pits after changing their tires. Joshua Durksen took pole position ahead of Gabriel Bortoleto and Franco Colapinto. Isack Hadjar got off to a good start and moved up to fifth place, in the rearview mirrors of Paul Aron.

The duel between the two championship leaders was intense on lap five, but the game of pit stops reshuffled the cards and the Frenchman came out better positioned. His teammate, Pepe Marti, took advantage of a great stop to virtually take the lead of the race. Bortoleto, sandwiched between the two Campos, seemed the most in rhythm on the Red Bull Ring and took back the lead of the race, as well as the fastest lap halfway through the session.

The tension rose in the Parisian’s radio, forcing the team to give an order so that he could pass in front of the Spaniard. Chasing after the MP Motorsport rider, the protégés of the Red Bull fold were unable to prevent the return of Franco Colapinto, who was on the verge of taking the victory. But it was Gabriel Bortoleto who won ahead of the Argentinian. Isack Hadjar completed the podium ahead of Pepe Marti and Enzo Fittipaldi. Paul Aron was sixth.

Yesterday’s winner, Oliver Bearman, suffered a power problem and had to retire. His garage neighbour, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, finished only 14th in the race.

Victor Martins still in difficulty

The other Frenchman on the grid also gained places at the start to move up to 10th. But the ART GP rider did not have the pace to keep up the distance and finished 13th, a little far from the points.
