PSG backpedals for the 2024 Olympics

PSG has made an astonishing decision for its players, called to play in the 2024 Olympics.

While all of Europe is currently focused on Euro 2024, which is taking place in Germany, the football world is also preparing for the Olympic Games. The tournament is taking place this year in Paris and will take off on July 26. Several nations are competing, including the French U21 team and the Spanish U21 team. While PSG refused to release its French players for the Bleuets, the club changed its mind for another player called up by La Roja.

PSG’s position for the 2024 Olympics

Thierry Henry had to face a real headache before forming his team for the Olympic Games. Several players called up by the Bleuets coach were blocked by their respective clubs. If he already expected to be turned away by foreign teams, the former French international also received a refusal from local clubs including Lille and PSG.

The Parisian club refused to release Warren Zaire-Emery and Bradley Barcola. The reason is simple: the two players are called up by Didier Deschamps to play Euro 2024 with the French team. PSG therefore does not want to have its nuggets play two competitions in a row, so the number of matches will increase next season.

PSG releases Arnau Tenas for the Olympics

However, Paris Saint-Germain has made a completely different decision regarding Arnau Tenas. Called up by Santiago Dernia, the goalkeeper will indeed be at the Olympic Games this summer. According to information from RMC Sport, Arnau Tenas has been authorized by PSG to join Spain. A decision that is far from surprising since the Iberian goalkeeper is not currently playing in the Euro in Germany.

Appreciated by Luis Enrique, Arnau Tenas only played six matches in all competitions last season. Left to be Gianluigi Donnarumma’s understudy, the Spaniard saw the arrival of Matvey Safonov this summer and will have to fight even harder to get a place next season.
