It’s historic, the Guyanese Gemima Joseph with a time of 11”01 over 100 m becomes the 2024 French elite champion by establishing her second personal best of the year.
The Guyanese sprinter achieved the 3rd best French performance of all time by achieving a time of 11”01 in the 100m this evening at the French elite championship. A remarkable performance a few weeks before the Paris Olympic Games for which she qualified on April 13 at the Guyana Games.
Will Gemima one day beat the record of the one nicknamed Queen Christina, holder of the European 100m record in 10’73 obtained 23 years ago?
In any case, the young sprinter seems to be in a phase of progression which should be at its peak in August. We can only hope that she drops below 10 seconds and thus joins the very restricted circle of the best runners in the world.
