ASSE’s huge blow!

On this last Saturday of June, the ASSE Coeur Vert Aésio Mutuelle 2 wheelchair football team played its promotion to D2. While the first team has been playing in D1 for two seasons already, the Loire club could strike a big blow!

The D3 Wheelchair Football Championship is played with two groups. The first two teams from each group enter the final phase at the end of the season. There are therefore four teams that compete for one day. On the program, a mini championship with single-leg matches, and the first two teams access Division 2. This year, this final phase was played in Nantes between ASSE, Aubevoye, Bordeaux and Nanterre 2.

Here is the program of the day for ASSE and the other teams

  • ASSE Cœur-Vert 2 – Bordeaux
  • ASSE Heart-Green 2 – Aubevoye
  • ASSE Green Heart 2 – Nanterre 2
  • Aubevoye – Bordeaux
  • Aubevoye – Nanterre 2
  • Bordeaux – Nanterre 2

For its first match against Bordeaux, ASSE conceded a draw. After leading 1-0, then 2-0, the Greens finally gave in. Bordeaux came back into the game. The match ended with this score of 2-2.

For their second match, the ASSE players were opposed to Aubevoye. After a stressful match where the dominant Stéphanois were unable to score, the match finally ended with a Stéphanois victory! It took until the end of the match for the Stéphanois to break the deadlock, 1-0. There is only one last match left where everything will be decided against Nanterre!

During this match, the Greens took a definitive advantage. This match ended with a score of 2-0 in favor of ASSE, which therefore moves up to D2 along with their opponent Nanterre! A magnificent record for ASSE, which managed to place its two teams in the first two divisions!
