Cycling. Tour of Thuringia – Mischa Bredewold the 5th stage and the time, Edwards leader

This 5th stwaters of l’International LOTTO Tour of Thuringia Women was certainly one of the most decisive of the week, with a time trial around the town ofAltenburg long… 31.5 kilometers long! A rare distance on the women’s calendar and for a race of this caliber which therefore promised big gaps at the finish. On this route mthe foolairement flat, it is as expected an excellent roller who has established herself in the person of Mischa Bredewold (Team SD Worx-Protime) ! Already 3rd the day before, the Dutchwoman did not let her third success of the season slip away this time with a time of 43 minutes and 4 seconds, 11 seconds less than the Australian. Brodie Chapman (Lidl-Trek) and 22 compared to the Austrian Christina Schweinberger (Fenix-Deceuninck).

Mischa Bredewold is the European road champion

Ruth Edwards takes the lead and is close to victory

Having been well ahead of the general classification since the first day and their victorious breakaway, Margot Vanpachtenbeke (VolkerWessels Women’s Pro Cycling Team) et Ruth Edwards (Human Powered Health) were finally able to decide for the final victory. A duel that largely turned in favor of the American! Fourth, only 24 seconds behind Bredewold, Edwards takes the lead in the German event, probably definitively, the 25-year-old Belgian is not a specialist in solo efforts and only took 46th place… more than 4 minutes behind! A poor performance that even makes her slip out of the top 10 overall, to 11th place. Mischa Bredewold is logically the new dauphine ofEdwardsbut at 2’06”, Christina Schweinberger completing this new podium at 2’42”. Ruth Edwards should succeed except for a glitch Lotte Kopecky in the winners’ list of winners of the event this Sunday at the end of the 6th and final stage.
